Default Upgraded Alpine to Kickers (77KICK10) - not much improvement

This must be the easiest upgrade I've ever done, very easy to remove and re-install (with polyfill). I unclipped the door harness/strap for more room. Plenty of threads with instruction so I won't post that. I want to be honest with all, the upgrade WILL NOT give you much improvement over the Alpine speakers. The mids and highs are still very lacking, muffled on some tracks. The muddy bass from the stock Alpine sub does not help either.

In retrofit, I would wait to put in a component set when I upgrade the head unit & amplifier. If you have Alpine and thinking about the Kickers or other coaxials, save your $$ unless you're going with quality components.

I forgot to mention I also put the Kickers in the sound, which did improve a little with the help of the tweeters since there were none back there.

I will say compared to the regular factory speakers the kickers are leaps and bounds better. I can see not much of difference from the alpines.

The regular paper speakers suck balls.

Yeah, save your money or at least just replace the sound bar speakers. Do the cheap tweeter mod by replacing the tweeters' capacitors, it may even sound better.

If you don't change the headunit you can't expect much.
The stock speakers in mine sounded way better with a new headunit.

You could buy the most expensive speakers on earth for your jeep, it won't change the fact that the rest of the stock system is a pile a crap.

Crap in = crap out

If you're going to replace your speakers, don't bother until you at least replace the head unit. Just changing out the HU can make a world of difference.

so true. Really great speakers will actually make a crappy radio even MORE OBVIOUS.

the cheap tweeter mod? What crap is that? The caps are molded into the tweeter itself. And changing the crossover point on a cheap cone tweeter isn't gonna do a damn thing to make them sound better. Maybe make them last a much shorter time. Lol. Then replace them with REAL tweeters.
