Default Wipers quit suddenly washer works

Any thoughts....turned on wipers they moved about an inch then nothing. Washer works, fuses seem ok. Does this sound like a motor? Rears wiper/washer works fine.

The JK wipers seem to be connected or controlled in a very weird way.

My 07's wipers suddenly start working on their own, very slowly. If I rotate their control knob to try to switch them on or off it kills the engine and things only get back to normal when I disconnect the battery for 15 seconds or more.

Completely random. It can pass days without happening again and everything working normally and then it happens again. I set an appointment with the dealer but they are so packed that could only see me after two weeks.

In the meantime I have to live with that crap.

Biggest problem is that if engine dies I lose steering and brakes so I have been driving like a 90-year old. First time I was lucky that there's was enough time and space to pull over and stop my Jeep. I was in a highway with my family.

Completely lost confidence on my Jeep. Let's see what the dealer says but if that's one more of the "Jeep's things" I may give it up. This is not something tolerable or that can be fixed later. People can die because of crap like that.

Did you ever find a fix for this?? Mine stopped working yesterday. Rear wiper and washer fluid works. CHECKED Fuses and swapped motor and still nothing! FRUSTRATING!

I did get it fixed. Unfortunately it turned to be the relay. The really bad news is the relay is part of the exam computer under the hood. The whole module had to be replaced. They are around $10000.00. Seems ridiculous that if a relay goes bad to have to replace a very expensive computer.

We had those things drop out of our computer over time. You can get them for $300 programed for your jeep. I used a company out of Florida to do a swap and worked fine. They take your old computer as a core. You just supply them with your mileage and vin number.

ECM was mentioned. I believe the thread is actually about the TIPM. Correct?

The wipers are rooted in the TIPM.

Mglad1's wiper relay is in the TIPM, not the ECM.
