Default Rugged Ridge XHD bumper

Rugged Ridge XHD winch front bumper bought used $350 - all mounting hardware included, does not include the bar on top but I'm not to keen on the manufactured design. Might look into having one made by a local shop.

I am pleased that is fits the OEM fog lights, gotta say keeping the stock fogs and having space for a winch will be nice. updates to come when in arrives.

Default Steering "sway" after lift....?

Having done the lift, I know have a "loose" steering situation going on. It feels more noticeable at freeway speeds. This is not speed wobble, its like the jeep just gently sways a bit. for this I anticipate an eventual steering kit upgrade. Maybe Synergi?

So, tonight I will inspect for ball joint movement, take measurements and adjust as needed. hopefully fix the issue. if not, then get an alignment done? would that help me in any way?

AND my bumper arrives at FedEx today, maybe install this evening? anything is possible.

Also I am adding a Rock Krawler Control arm kit to my list, uppers&lowers&front&back I've read great reviews and they have recently released the Pro Flex Joint on the frame side of the control arm. This pleases me haha.

Default Rugged Ridge XHD Bumper

It has arrived. It has been opened....and it has been set in the corner of my garage because I need a steel drill bit. DAM!

But, overall pleased with the packaging, tightly wrapped and all. though the box itself could have been made with a thicker cardboard....

Everything in the box Including a relocation bracket for the vacuum pump! AWESOME. but that is the problem, this bracket needs a hole drilled, of which I do not have a drill....oh well nothing home depot tomorrow can't solve.

Default Steering is Adjusted

Did some reading, sounded like the caster is altered from the lift, (likely cause of the lax driving while on the freeway).

So I bought an angle indicator to check it out.....pretty dam close to stock +4.2 degrees. So then I checked Toe-in/Toe-out....off by 1/4", quick adjustment to 1/16" Toe-IN.

I also noticed one of my tires getting low so I bought a pressure gauge at Autozone. FR - 30psi, FL - 20psi (barely). BR - under 20psi, BL - 25psi. Im wondering if these factors could be part of the issue. so tomorrow will be a test run.

Also, prior to changing anything there was a screeching when I turned sharp 90 degrees at slightly above slow speeds. mostly on the front left. (maybe from it being so low on air?). Again this will be tested out tomorrow.

Yeah, those tire pressures are not good at all. Get that corrected and see how it drives after.

I also got a few things off of CL for my build:

Rancho tube doors (all 4) - $300
Set of 5 VTEC Raptor wheels - $250
10# PowerTank - $300

Like you though, I wouldn't trust a used suspension or used tires, so I paid out the nose for those, but have piece of mind. All the work so far I've done myself. You'll have fun with your build!

Thanks! and good news, after all the adjusting and pressuring up to an even 31psi (mostly road use...for now) it drives so much better. no more wheel screech on turns. and it may just be placebo effect right now but the freeway speed "wondering" feels gone. though now as a result of all of those things, I need to straighten out the steering wheel. I did find it odd not having to do that after I put the lift on, as the instructions said I would...

10# Power Tank? I'm guessing air tank? maybe CO2?

And I too do all of that work myself, my onyl downfall is tools I haven't bought yet. (ie: the steel drill bits for the vacuum pump relocation bracket)

Thanks again.
