I'd rather get a good d44 housing like the pro rock and beef it up with shafts and gears. Pouring a lot of extra cash into the 30 to make the housing last seems kind of wasteful if I have to replace gears every other year. Maybe someone can shed some light on this and sway me back to the d30 route?

I'm not going to sway you either way, but it cost me $300 for my truss, gussets, and skids from artec. Gears cost me under $800 for front and rear. I'll take that over a $3k mininum d44 while I figure out my needs/wants.

The Artec Truss and Gussets are a total of $200 for the pair, which isn't bad at all. And if I were to go the d30 route(which is still possible) I could do that and afford to go to the 4.56s I want and put ARBs front and rear. I know that the housing will most likely never give me any issues at that point but from what I hear the gears become the issue early on in the 30. But I share your mindset in the way that I'm not entirely sure what this jeep will be in a few years, I could always decide to go to tons and 40s and make it strictly a toy. I guess we'll see, that's whats great about forums like this, ideas get shared and then next thing you know you're drinking cold soup out of the can DOWN BY THE RIVER!

Ok back with an update after a busy month. I'm returning to the states in a little over two weeks, I'll have my two weeks of rest and relaxation with which I plan to install my new RK coils that I got for a steal. I'm also going to be putting c gussets on the d30 and starting another project that I'll take plenty of pictures of.

Ok guys ordered some more small parts. Got gussets, hood latches, mirror relocation kit, and some grab handles. I've got less than 2 weeks before I get back!
