Decision Time: Supercharger or Hemi?
Obviously, with big 42 inch tires, wheels, big axles, etc., I will need more power to get the Jeep going....So, I've been looking at superchargers for a long time and that is what I expected to use for this build. Trouble is, they are pretty hard to come by used or from junkyards, which is the general approach for this build. I realize I will have to buy some brand new parts and components, but I'd like to keep that to a minimum. This is what I've been struggling with in planning this build.
So this morning I get a call from Jim at JCFab and he tells me that he was talking to some junkyards and looking for a high pinion 60 for my front end - he did not find one. But, what he did find was a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was a salvage from a roll-over. So he tells me that it is the 2008 SRT8 model with a 6.1 Hemi in it. The engine has about 16k miles on it and very little damage (broken valve cover and busted water pump). "Do you want it," he asks.
HECK YES!

Edit: Sorry, just noticed you asked when are we pulling axles. I'm not sure yet. Still need to find the front and we need to decide on gearing, axles, brakes, etc.
