Fitting 40's
Hello
I currently own a jeep Jk 07 wrangler x.
I am not very sure as to what the previous owner has done in terms of a lift. I can do any measurements to figure this out.. just not sure what to measure.
It has ballistic rims and bf goodrich 35's on it right now. Along with smittybilt side skirts and fenders.
There has been 0 upgrades as far as drivetrain.
I am quite good with engines.. I used to own a track queen evo 9 @ 600hp.
I know engines.. not so much suspension [emoji21]
I am just looking to run some 40's.. maybe lower if theres a huge cost difference between say... 38s and 40s.
Any insight is greatly appreciated. Links and products can help a lot too.. rather then fiddling around trying to find them myself.
ps. it is the same car.. tried my hand at plasti dipping.
UPDATE: 4in suspension lift
Thank you so much!

Search for any post by Planman. In his sig you will find a link to a good thread on fitting large tires. You should also open and read both of the threads stuck to the top of the Modified Tech section. (note the recommendations for rim backspacing for the various tire sizes. Plan on new rims, or new rims + spacers)
You will be swapping to 60's, right? If not, how much money are you planning on dumping into your stock d30/d44? (Or are you one of the lucky few 07's with a d30/d35 combo ?)
Start pricing out all new steering components. Brake upgrades. Housing upgrades. Axle shafts. Ball joints. Hubs. Drive shafts. etc, etc, etc. (there may not be an immediate need, just pricing for if/when)

How would I go about checking if i got the 30-35s? Probably noob question.
Thats what is currently on the car, well so what I have been told.

Nthinuf is asking if you have a dana 35 in the rear and not a dana 44. Can u take a pic of the rear pumpkin (differential)? (We can tell you what you have) A dana 35 i really week and there is no chance in hell it would last at all with 40s and with a 44 you could probably be ok for a little while but if you actually wheel, you will end up breaking it also (on 40s). I know you have a dana 30 in the front and that will not last either...

You can find charts online that show the different dana housings, so you just compare what you see under your jeep to what is on the chart. Or, go to Jeeps website, find the email us link in the customers section, and send them a request for the original build sheet. You will need the VIN.
What ratio is in your axles? The build sheet will show what it left the factory with, but not necessarily what is in them now. For that size tire, plan on new gears - depending on location and local rates, expect a minimum of $1000. Some areas (east coast in particular) it could be as high as $3000. That is gears only, so if you want lockers also, add those costs in. (in the FAQ's at the top of the modified area you will find some good rpm charts to give an idea of where you will be with various tires/gears )
