Default A little lost

Hello everyone! Just joined this wonderful site after purchasing my first jeep! She's a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Bought it used towards the end of November. Came with aftermarket rims with 285/70/17 tires, a front bumper and winch. So now with the question lol, I just bought a four inch lift for it, it's a rough country 4" suspension lift, doesn't have a arms or any of that its just a basic 4 inch lift. My question is, has anyone ever had this lift, if so how hard is the install and did you run into any problem? Putting a 4 inch lift on what do I need to watch for on/off road? What will I need to buy in the future? This is a mainly on road jeep but I do enjoy going off every once in a while. Sorry this is so long guys just have a bunch of questions lol! Thanks for reading everyone!

4" is going to require you to swap your drive shafts, get control arms to correct geometry, etc. and, being rough country, I would return it, buy a quality 3". Still need adjustable control arm, but you'll be saved from the drive shaft expense initially. Dig a little in this site, there is a world of Intel regarding various lift heights and additional mods required to run them.

How big are you planning to go with your tires?

Suggest you read the sticky thread by Dirtman, "My thoughts on lifts" in the Modified JK subforum. Wealth of info there that can save you some money and misery.

I plan on going 35x12.50 when I get tires. And am I at least gonna be able to drive it with just the lift? And be able to get everything else down the road?

You won't need 4" to run 35" tires.

As suggested above, don't throw away the packaging for the 4" lift, and read the Dirtman's write-up about lifts.

There are a number of 2.5 in kits that will clear 35s. A little less clearance, but Less potential driveline issues vs 3.5 or 4 in kit.

Before you pull the trigger, on bigger tires, you might want to research gears as well. When you put bigger tires on, it will change your jeeps on road performance as well. Easy to fix, but there is a cost

I've already looked into the gearing. I travel a lot of highway for work so I can't go to big. 3.73 is what I'm thinking but def not bigger then 4.10. Why is rough country not a good lift? Or why is not a comparable lift to other brands?

4.10 on 35s.be good okay on the street. I didn't like them offroad, but I have a manual. I found that 4.56 work great on the street as well and giving better off road performance

I also have a standard, but I have about 70 miles round trip a day for work so I gotta try to keep the gas mileage up as much as possible. Right now I get about 17 on average with 33's with the 3.21 gearing I have now. What kind of mpg were you getting with the 4.10 and 4.56?
