50% more. But we knew what you meant.

What concerns me is that even Warn straps are made in China. How is that different from Smittybuilt stuff?

I don't want to spend crazy money.

Here's what I found:

Rugged Ridge 15104.01 Premium Recovery 3" x 30' - 30,000lb Capacity. Made in China: $43 on Amazon (delivered with Prime)
Warn (88913) 3" x 30' Standard Recovery Strap Rated to 21,600 pound capacity. Made in China. $58 delivered on Amazon
ARB ARB710US 3-1/8" x 30' Recovery Strap - 24000 lbs Capacity. Made in Taiwan. $82 on Amazon
Poison Spyder Recovery Strap Part Number: PSC57-63-515. 30' x 3" 24,250 lbs. minimum breaking strength. $70 on 4wd.
Smittybilt CC330 3" x 30' Recovery Strap - 30,000 lb Capacity Made in China. $37 on Amazon.
Bubba Rope 176660BLG 7/8" x 20' Breaking Strength Original Rope with Standard Blue Eye - 28600 lbs. Capacity. MADE IN USA. $160 on Amazon.

So, based on this, why not Rugged Ridge?
And is the Warn any better quality because it's Warn even though it's still made in China?
Excellent find! Too bad we don't have all the same brands here, but we do have the front runner! I'm on Amazon right now. Nothing like new stuff for my recovery bag.

Thanks!

Thanks, Mark

Something I've noticed is that the flat kinetic straps like the ARB recommend a rating 2 to 3 times vehicle weight, but the round kinetic rope has recommendations such as 5 times (or more).

The ARB flat strap is rated at 20% stretch, and this rope at 7/8 Inch Synthetic Recovery Vehicle Recovery Rope | ASR Offroad has 30% stretch. But the absolute stretch of the flat strap is more with the same load given a flat strap rated at 3 times GVW with 20% stretch, and a round strap rated 5 times GVW with 30% stretch.

I'd rather the rope break before the recovery points... But putting that aside, I'm not getting why the difference in recommended breaking strength. And I'm not seeing the advantage of round kinetic rope if the load recommendations are followed.

Thoughts?

My understanding is that the round kin ropes basically act much more like a rubber band, so softer pull, more stored energy and good when you have a nice long run and a very stuck vehicle. I think that also allows smaller vehicles to unstuck a bigger one. I'm now carrying both

I hear you, but can't make the math support the "much more like a rubber band" hypothesis because the stretched distance is based on a percentage of breaking strength (not the actual load), and the higher multiples of GVW that are recommended rating for round kinetic rope.

EDIT: Example 10,000 Lbs min breaking strength and a 20% stretch rating. At 10,000 Lbs a 30 FT strap/rope stretches to 36 FT. At 5,000 Lbs it stretches to 33 FT.

What's the breaking strength ratings of your strap and rope? Rated stretch percentages?

I bought this rope from Southeast Overland:

Custom Amount
7/8"x30' Kinetic Recovery Rope

Kinetic Recovery Ropes : 7/8" x 30' Kinetic Recovery Rope | Southeast Overland

Looks like a high quality rope. 24,750 breaking strength, but the stretch percentage isn't specified.

Forgive the obsession with numbers and math, It bugs me when things like this aren't quantifiable.

I don't know now. I was doing a ton of research late one night and found myself liking these. I emailed with the owner and sales folks. VERY responsive. Send them notes, ask, they'll reply fast. They are 100% made in USA and assembled in their shop.
