Default Snatch block and D-rings

Does anyone have any recommendations on a snatch block? I have a 10k pound winch with synthetic rope although I don't believe that matters.

Also recommendations on d-rings? I see some but they're not even rated for 10k pounds

With synthetic rope a snatch block sure does matter some of the cheaper ones have gaps and can wear on your rope. I went ARB for my block and D rings. ARB snatch block 9000 a bit pricey but worth it.

I, too, use the ARB snatch block. It's good and strong, and doesn't harm a synthetic rope.

ARB offer 2 models --
Snatch Blocks | ARB 4x4 Accessories
The # 7000 is very good.
The # 9000 is rated for heavier working load and is also lighter.

MASTER PULL, too, offer very good snatch blocks -

Winch Rope, Winch Line, Recovery Rope, Kinetic Recovery Ropes, ATV Winch Lines Ropes, MASTER PULL Recovery Gear
Snatch Block SBO30000 - Max load 15,000 lbs, Max rope diameter 3/8" (9mm)

Winch Rope, Winch Line, Recovery Rope, Kinetic Recovery Ropes, ATV Winch Lines Ropes, MASTER PULL Recovery Gear
Snatch Block SB55000-14 - Max load 27,500 lbs, Max rope diameter 9/16" (14mm)

I second what robsjeep9 said -- Get the best snatch you can. A cheep snatch may ruin your rope and pose risks.
Make sure it's made for at least your rope diameter.

I like to buy d rings from a reputable company(Crosby). They should all have a safety factor around 6. So, if it says 3.75 tons, it could really hit up to near 20 tons before failure.

They are marked with 'SWL' and 'WLL'.
The SWL - Safe Working Load should be referred to as the maximum load,
and NOT to the WLL (Working Load Limit).

For recovery with straps, omega shaped shackles are better than 'U' shaped ones.

FYI... I thought 9000 lbs was a little low so I checked the ARB site (Snatch Blocks | ARB 4x4 Accessories) and this is rated for 9000kg = 19841.6 lbs

SWL is the normal working load….So if the shackle is rated for 3 tons… 3 tons is the SWL and typically the safety rating is a number 5 meaning it is rated up to 5 times the amount on the shackle for safety measures. That does not mean your supposed to use a 3 ton shackle and put 10 or 15 tons of stress on it..

WLL is the maximum load allowed.

I know all of this as i do rigging everyday for work.. using snatch blocks… 500ton cranes.. shackles that we use cranes to lift and put in place…

Are the SWL & WLL "static" loads and hard to translate into 4x4 recovery which is a "dynamic" load?
