Went off-roading with my friend's practically new JKU a few weeks ago. Still had the dealer plates. He was trying to stay to the side of the pit...but...

I'm going off roading with my new JK tomorrow...I'll avoid that pit.

I got stuck the first time I was out in my YJ. These things happen.

Guys I know the pull pal has been mentioned but there is an alternative. We were taught in Iraq in 03 to dig a hole. Place the spare wheel in the hole attach winch and cover and compact. Lots of time? Yes. Lots of effort? Yes. Gets you out of a jam? Yes.

Alternatively with some 3' lengths of rebar, a base plate with a hook and a good hammer anything is possible!

I aways carry an entrenching tool. Should be a standard recovery tool!

Sent from your moms bedroom.

Also from Omaha. I'll be getting my first Jeep in the next 5 weeks or so. I've heard about Tuttle Creek, anywhere else to go just to wheel around? Looking for beginner stuff.

Nice to see what a dune unlimited looks like stuck like that. Now I don't have to do it!

Default Haven't gotten stuck yet!

I love wheeling! Ive had my wrangler for 8 months and don't get to take it wheeling much, living in southern Canada all we got for a trail is an old abandoned golf course in the middle of an industrial area. I know getting stuck is kind of one of those inevitable, completely unavoidable things but luckily theres nothing my BFG's haven't been able to pull me through yet! Sadly, i have to go wheeling alone most of the time because I'm the only one of my friends who owns a JK other than my Dad so if i get stuck I'm up crap creek.

Also great to know that clutching in while in water is dumb! Had no idea!

Personally I like sticking to rocks and sand but there is nothing more bad a$$ than a JK covered in mud!

It's easy to get caught up in the "I'm in a Jeep!" mentality--who knew it could be so irresistible?

Good to hear about the fluids though. I had another 20 minute drive to work today and haven't seen any issues with the clutch. I may check the diff oil again to see in the daylight, but who knows. Is a little bit of water in there a huge deal, if there is? I'm just not sure what color the fluid should be in the first place.
It is not always feasible to have someone with you when you wheel. With that said, if you are gonna wheel alone, buy a winch, hi lift jack, winch kit, and know how to use them. If you are gonna play in the mud buy some waders lol!

I always leave my Jeep running for at least 30 minutes after I go in the mud so the pulleys can throw out all the crap that gets lodged in there. The first time I went full on bogging and got stuck my idler pulley locked up the next day. Its only like a $30 fix but still getting towed is not cheap nor fun

I wheel eveey weekend. And never leave your jeep turned off after playing in watee or mud. Unless of course ypu want to wreck starters or pumps. And i live for mud.. all these trails get so boring. But ya add mud and it makes it harder to go. Thats fun. Heres some pictures... of my woops.
