Default Tire shovel mount?

Looking for a solution to mount the shovel on the spare tire. Currently it's bungied under the backseat, but some days I need the space with the back seats down. A tad too long to mount on the tailgate. I know some people have it bungied to the spare, but looking for more of a secure (safety/security) mount. I remember seeing someone have a clamping bracket of some sort, don't know where the thread went.

I now use my tire mount bike rack to carry shovels. Now that I have a 2" receiver hitch and a new bike rack, the older Allen rack is used only for hauling two shovels (and a hi-lift jack if need be). Installs in about 30 seconds, and you can remove the rack with shovels still strapped on. The straps on the rack are more than enough to secure shovels.

I'd use bungies, I'm just paranoid it's gonna fall off on the freeway or washboard roads. Quickfist would require making a panel/bracket of some sort. Not sure how that one on ebay would mount to the spare tire carrier?

I know what you mean about paranoid or just someone unlatching the bungee and have a free shovel pretty quick! What I have done is just tied a very long bungee to the shovel in the middle of the bungee cord and then just wrap the two ends of the bungee around the tire and latch it to the tire carrier. I have had no issues with washboard or the freeway. However, like you am interested in some of the setups.

I built a shovel mount for my son in law (just bought my old Jeep) because he wanted to mount his shovel. It works really well and is rock solid. I've been ask by several to build them one so PM me if you are interested.
