I had to pull a fallen tree off the trail, sideways again. Snatchblock.
I've used the Snatchblock to respool my long winch line, cutting the distance needed half.
I've seen a Snatchblock double the pulling power of the winch to successfully extract a vehicle from serious mud. (REALLY stuck? Add more Snatchblocks)

I've been on an extremely tight trail and had to winch the jeep in front of me SIDEWAYS to keep him from sliding into a tree and breaking his window. Snatchblock. A snatch block is Well worth having in your recovery Arsenal. It increases your pulling power and gives you more options for pulling direction. Some winching pics from a snow run couple weeks ago here in Northern California. At one point we had to run a snatch block to turn around where the snow was getting too deep.
