It is an M-170, basically a CJ-6 with a huge passenger side door opening. It is awesome that it has the stretcher liters still installed, they go missing alot when people modify them for wheeling.

Yup, an M-170. This one came off the line in June of '54, which makes it one of the earliest made. There were about 300 mfg'd between '54 and '55 and just over 4000 mfg'd between '54 and '65.

There's only a few hundred known to still exist and only a handful fully restored. Even the fully restored m-170's tend to still miss parts, as you noted with this one being rare to have the stretcher liters, to those missing some of the most sought after parts like the shovel stowed under the hood.

The prices on these rarely match the value the owners place on them, which makes it hard to get a hold of one.

They asked 8k, but I couldn't imagine a penny over 4k on its best day unless it was moving.

$4k I think for a non runner will sit for a while. Then again some one with more bucks than...
Point your finger anywhere at that thing and say thousand. thousand, thousand, 5 thousand, thousand, 3 thousand, and on and on. And then the real kick in the pants is if you have to sell it. Guaranteed it'll be worth more to you than the potential buyer.
Had a '39 Chevy pick-up. Good thing it got stolen before any money got sunk into it.

Probably 15k to restore it. I thought you were going to say 1500-2500.

I've seen only a few of these around and all missing plenty of parts. Lowest price I've come across was $800 and average is about $2500. This one is more complete and runs, but it's still overpriced and hey would need to find someone as emotionally connected to it as they are to bite at their asking price.

If anyone is interested I heard from the seller today. They are motivated to sell and likely negotiable for under $2k.

I'm tied up into another project, so this is off my radar.
