I had a difficult time finding comparison pics when I was deciding which tire size to get. I went from 33" to 35" and thought it was a good opportunity to make this "before and after" shot.
Note 1: The Jeep has a 2.5" Teraflex coil lift in both pics
Note 2: rims are 16"
Note 3: tires are BF Goodrich KO2 All Terrain in both pics

Great thread. Thx for the pics. This actually supports my plan to start with 33s. If you were to have a leveling kit in the first pic with 33s and the 2.5" lift with the 35s, they would be really similar and 90% of non jeep people would probably not notice the difference. The same EXACT tire also makes the comparison much more valid IMO. The change from stock to 33s is WAY WAY more dramatic than the 33s to 35s
Further, from an appearance perspective, it seems much more about the wheel selection, tire tread selection, and wheel offset, than it does just pure OD. I have seen some rad lookin 33s with leveling kits, aggressive backspacing, etc, and conversely some really mild tread looking 35s that you wouldn't think were 35s.
Even though mine will be a DD, I am leaning towards 33x12.5R15 MT MTZs (could get a sceaming deal at $175 a tire), MB TKOs at 3.75" BS, and a TF leveling kit.

I'm really confused. I'm about to put a 2.5" lift on my Jeep and I currently have factory 17" rims with 255/75R17. This is a 2007 Wrangler JK. I want to keep the height without super fat tires. I also want them all terrain. Please help!!! I'm super new to all this and I want a good look for a beginner. Yes, I do plan on eventually changing my wheels but since I didn't win the powerball a couple of weeks ago, I'm sorta budgeting. Any advise is certainly welcome. Thanks in advance!

IMHO, I think a 2.5" lift with a stock height tire might look a bit strange, but you might pull it off it the tread is aggressive enough.
I don't know what your definition of super fat is, but my first set of 33" BFG's were 11.5" wide and they were just even with the fenders. The second set of 35" BFG's are 12.5" wide and the tread sticks out about a half inch. However the sidewall on the 35" bulges out quite a bit further than the 33" did. This is with 4.5" of backspacing.
This pic gives you an idea of the 11.5" width on a 33" tire.

I guess by what I mean by "fat" tires, is sticking out past the fender. So I should go with a 33x12.50R17 and go ahead and splurge for the perfect wheel? Is there a wheel you recommend?I suppose I can skip more than a couple of meals to make this happen. Thanks for the advise. 👍🏽
