Bestop Under Seat Lockbox vs. Tuffy
#11
I installed the best top drawer today and I like it a lot installation took about 20 mins. I recommend that you take the strap and wire harness off the door and open the door as much as possible so that you can fit a breaker bar or a piece of pipe over your socket. Those bolts were really torqued down.

Pro Bestop
I have the Bestop.
I appreciate that the Tuffy offers a fair bit more in the way of space, but to me that is the only real thing it has over the Bestop.
IMHO, if your storing something valuable enough to be concerned with 2 vs 3 STEEL bolts, or the complexity of the lock tumbler, then I recommend not storing it in your vehicle... especially one that you can drive without doors or a roof.
On a side note, make damn sure the Bestop box is PROPERLY closed before you drive off... learned that the hard way.

Tuffy Lock Box
I have the Tuffy lock box. I have used Tuffy brands in the past, just went with it. I store my gun, extra clip, GPS, and wallet. Works fine for me. My friend has the Bestop, doesn't open as far. However, both serve a great purpose. If you are "on the fence" about which one to buy, look around, ask around, you probably know people in the Jeep community with both, and you can look and see for yourself.

Bestop
I went with the bestop based on price vs size. Tuffy isnt much larger and was twice the price. I've been very happy with mine so far. I dont know if its just the 2011 or not, but I had a wire harness bracket that I had to remove that wasnt in the instructions. No biggie just unscrewed it and zip tied the wires to the bottom of the seat.

Tuffy
I chose the Tuffy, but primarily for the length of the drawer slide. The tuffy slides over the entire length of the drawer, leaving only about 1/4 inch of the drawer "hidden."

Bringing this back....
I just read about a member that had a Bestop drawer pried open. Has anyone had this happen to them? Has anyone seen something similar on a Tuffy drawer? I want to pull the trigger on one of these but I am now questioning how secure it really is.
I understand that nothing is completely secure. I want something that some kid cant pry open with 30 seconds and a screw driver.

Can't speak to exact theft prevention specs but with regards to quality you can't go wrong with Tuffy. Quality product. Bestop just doesn't quite match up.

I had the Bestop, it rattled and seemed unsecure. I keep a loaded handgun in it so quality was an issue for me. I replaced it with a Tuffy and there is no comparison. It would take a ton of effort to break into the Tuffy. I was so impressed that I replaced my entire console with a Tuffy as well. I could not be more satisfied.
