Earth Siege Build engine and 40"

Been a fun day chasing parts and tools.
The MoTech kit specifies what exhaust manifolds and shields to purchase from gm. They are about 90 per manifold and 40 per shield. However one of the manifolds is on national backorder....nice. If they cant get in within a few weeks ill get it from ebay used.
Also have to swap the stock LS balancer with a modified one from Motech. Guess what? The regular balancer removal and install tools that work on all other motors do not work on LS motors. Had to make....modifications and additions to tools. Autozone will be pleased with the "upgrades" that were made to the rental tools i got! Lol. Allthread is a wonder screw! While i had the balancer off i went and got a new seal since there was signs of leakage from old one.
When not working on the engine, i have been playing with the tie rod and pitman arm that are still attached to each other. The tool for the tie rod to separate from pitman worked perfectly. The pitman from the gear box....not so much. Had to go borrow improved tool with more strength and without a flanged head so i can put a socket on it. it is still a work in progress.
Also got in the energy suspension trans to crossmember mount. Realised i dont have screws long enough to mount this thicker mount to the trans adaptor so to fastenal! That problem has now been resolved as well.

Well after several attempts to test fit the motor i discovered that i had the trans mount bracket on wrong side of crossmember (this part goes under the crossmember, not above it) and that the top half of bracket is missing. Also realized one or both of my motor mounts from the pull out motor are damaged. Will have to get some new ones. The rest of my parts are coming when the second shipment of parts head my way after the computer and harnesses are modified. Gotta get those packaged up to ship off to MoTech.
Things are moving, slowly, but moving none the less. The speed problem is on me, i just work on jeep in spare time.
I am soooooo glad this isnt my daily driver or i would be in serious trouble.

I am steadily making progress. I have been getting parts gathered and now have delays getting some parts. Axles are delayed and i have to send steering gear box for modification, the harnesses and computers off to motech for reprogramming and modification.
I am working on the motor mounts(had to go buy new ones since the old ones had failed thx to the salvage shop removal method.).

Well got the guage cluster and gear shifter assembly out and ready to ship to Motech, just have the a/c compressor lines left and then package it all up.
PSC will be shipping my steering gear back from modification this tuesday or wed. With the ram assist and a experimental power steering pump pulley to make the pump turn at same speed as 5.3 larger crank pulley-required a larger pump pulley of same diameter to prevent overdriving and destroying the pump. After installed and running, they want feedback on how well it works with the Motech conversion. Fun and got a bit of a discount for my efforts. Yay discount!

Well i know its been awhile since i posted. Not alot has happened framewise
I have received my steering gear back from PSC-Lance is great to work with there-i recommend him. I now have my ram assist stuff ready to install on the absentee axles
I called about Dynatrac axles-they are still held up by the iron foundry that makes the pumpkins, they are severely behind but since i also move slowly, this is not been terrible delay for me.
I also got in my Teraflex rear prerunner style speedbumps as a swap for the axle mounted system i didnt prefer. All i had to do was pay return shipping. Joe and Dennis rock. Will do business with them again as well.
I removed the gauge cluster, gear shift assembly, 3 computers, harnesses and a/c lines and have them in a box ready to ship to MoTech this monday for modification. Some of this i may have covered in previous posts.
Tonite was the a/c lines and the rear factory speedbump removal and cleanup. Hopefully tomorrow i will get the new mounts frame cut out so we can weld them"french" them in!
Every a/c line that was disconnected, the end was cleaned and a ziplock bag placed over it and ziptied sealed to keep dirt and trash out of lines on both ends and on the parts still mounted to body as well. Small grains of dirt can destroy an a/c unit in short order! Also taped off compressor and put it in a 2 gallon baggy as well. Cant be too clean for that stuff.
I will measure twice and cut the rear bumps in tomorrow and maybe that evening or during week get my welder friend to do the front and rear bumps and motor mounts then back home for cleanup then off to powdercoating! Yay!!!!
