How much weight do you feel a trailer could weigh without having to add airbag helpers in the back or a auxiliary trans cooler? Do you think a 2,800 lb fully loaded popup or travel trailer would cause any issues? I'm realizing that for me to do the traveling I want to do with a full family is going to have to have a much bigger tow vehicle.

It's about impossible to find a trailer of any kind that meets the "rules" that the JKU has for towing capacity.

Got my Lid finished all except for paint and a rack for the RTT...
also decided to weld the tailgate back into place. Previous owner did a really crappy job of cutting it out.

I was thinking the same thing. I left mine in front of my place all summer with no issues. I'm not sure I'd leave it in the bush for very long (day trip), but I have no issues if I'm in a campground with others. I've never done anything other than lock the lid/tailgate.

Yea, since sending my original message out yesterday, I was able to actually see a JK8 in person and got to see first-hand how small they really are...looks like I'm going to game to put the trailer back on the radar...
When you set up camp and explore, do you feel safe knowing the trailer isn't getting stolen? I think it may be smart to build a steel bracket that would cover the hitch tongue, just to make it tough for anyone to steal

I don't fear my trailer being taken, I just don't want to deal with the hassle if things happen to go missing. That 10 gal of gas it carries could be the difference between driving or walking out. Same goes with the food. I live in a very safe area as well, but don't take chances. Most people in my town never lock their doors. That doesn't mean I don't. It takes less than a minute to secure my trailer so why not? Likewise, I've never run into any issues on trips, yet I still pack first aid, fire protection, basic survival gear, and personal protection. Dumb if you don't.

I'll have to get a 7 pin connection and a brake controller installed which I'm thinking from what I've read isn't a huge deal. But I might just let the dealership put it in to be safe.
I did get my Tuffy security enclosure installed today. I really like that it doubles my cargo space, is secure and fits perfectly in the trunk.
