We we have done it, finally found a camper we wanted and joined the Overlanding Glamping crowed , we have purchased and picked up a 2006 Ultimate Oydessey after putting a wanted ad on Myswag.org 3 weeks ago. This was the info from the ad Excellent condition Go anywhere luxury camping Deluxe lounge King size bed 2 Bed reading lamps Galley light EMP bed underlay Curtains to separate bedroom from galley 19" Kogan 12v TV mounts above bench Sony radio/CD Engel SR90F 12/240 volt fridge 2 Burner gas stove S/Steel sink with pressure water tap Water tank level gauge 7 Draws + under lounge storage 2 Sets fitted sheets 1 Set mattress protectors Inside/outside access toilet locker Door insect screen Inside / outside table 4 Outlet power board 4 Inside 12 volt sockets 2 Outside 12 volt sockets 1 Window clear Independent trailing arm suspension Koni shocks Lovel coil springs Electric drum brakes Treg off road hitch Fold up jockey wheel 12 Pin trailer + Anderson plug RanOx 12v to 12vdc battery booster Ctek 25 amp smart charger 2 X 90amp hour batteries Clipper BM-1 battery monitor Anderson solar connection plug Bridgestone dueler A/T 255/70R15 tyres on SR5 Hilux alloy rims Pressure pump Water filter Lockable water filler Lockable outside tap on tank Town water connection point with filter and pressure reducer Full length front mini awning Small awning for over the door Full size rear awning no sides 4 wind down / up stabilizer legs for easy setup 2 X 100mm lockable pole / rod holders Small step ladder wall mounted in the boot Rear dust deflectors 9kg gas bottle Boot light Custom cover from Stormcover And this is our new Ultimate Happy isn't the word to describe how we feel about the Ultimate, its fantastic, every thing we have wanted from a camper is in this, we looked at lots with the Patriot and Mission trailers at the top of our list but we decided we didn't just want a roof top tent and Superpeg awning, we looked at hardfloor and softfloor campers, but in the end the Ultimate had won us over with the easy setup and put down time that it takes, plus the internal lounge and king size bed. The Jeep is towing it very well so far but was changing gears a lot of some hill climbs with O/D off, also on 3.72 gears. Cheers Stephen

I'm looking for some opinions from the overlanding guys on the D30 strength on 35s w/ a LSD.
I have a chance to upgrade to a D44 w/ e-locker or just putting a truetrac in my D30. The price difference is the price of the snorkel that's on my wish list.
Am I nuts not to immediately jump on the D44 and push the snorkel until Xmas? Will the D30 hold up if I don't? Anybody gone the D30 LSD route then regretted it?

I'd wait for a D44 w/4.10s if you're going to run 35s, or plan for a regear later. And do you *need* a snorkel to get to places you currently can't, or do you just want one for aesthetics? If the latter, then I'd wait...but that's just IMHO.

A snorkel would provide some peace of mind. Mud holes around here turn into ponds this time of year.

Thanks for the compliments.
It's a rare 06 Fleetwood Neon.
Fridge is an Edgestar 43qt. They're $470 new and I was happy it worked as advertised. Underside of bed is 19", but fridge is 20" tall, so no fit. Rear seat in a 2dr Wrangler must be removed for fridge to fit there, which is where it used to be placed, but I don't want it there anymore for more room. Back to a cooler. $350

Question on affordable rack for 2 door
Hello everyone, I am new here and new to the JK though I have owned several Jeeps in the past. I love the expedition set ups that you guys have and I would like to slowly work in that direction. I purchased the Jeep used in September of 2014 it is a Silver 2 door 2012 COD MW3 Edition Rubicon.
Here is my starting point:
Year:2012Model:RubiconColor:SilverTransmission:Aut omaticSuspension:TERAFLEX 2.5" Coil spring Lift Kit w/ Shock Extensions and stock Rubicon shocks, Front Lower Long FlexArms, Rear Lower Sport FlexArmsWheels & Tires:Black Rubicon MOAB wheels with 35x12.50x17 NITTO Trail Grappler MTsBumpers:AEV tubeless Front bumper, AEV Rear bumper with tire carrierArmor:Stock Rubicon Armor, AEV Front Skid plate, AEV Rear Differential Skid plateDrivetrain:3.6L V6, automaticWinch:Smittybilt XRC8Performance:Superchips FlashpaqLights:PIAA 540 windshield mounted lightsAccessories:VIAIR 400C Air Compressor mounted in engine compartment
I want to slowly make additions to the Jeep and would like suggestions from you guys. First I would like to get proper length shocks for my lift (I am thinking Blistein 5100's or Old Man Emu). Next I want to add some armor. I am mainly interested in engine and transmission skids and maybe an evaporator skid (is this needed?).
Now storage, I need help here since this is a 2 door. I am hoping to do small weekend camping trips for now with my wife and six year old son. The long range, hope is a Gobi rack and maybe a roof top tent or an off road trailer but those options are several years out. For now we will be camping in a dome tent. I have a SmittyBilt hard top (added after the photos) and want opinions for mounting a basket type rack to it (what brands and models do you recommend?). Also I do not remove the top since I need to be able to lock it up. The other option that I am looking at is one of the basket type racks that mount to the spare tire carrier (I have the heavy duty AEV rear bumper with swing out tire carrier so it should handle a good bit of weight.
The advantages that I see to the basket racks that mount to the spare tire mount are lower cost, and the ability to easily remove it. If I install a roof top basket it will be a permanent install and effect gas mileage even as a daily driver.
Here are a couple I was looking at:
Olympic 4x4 Products 904-404 - Olympic 4X4 Products Sierra Rack in Rubicon Black - Quadratec
Surco SJ4319 - Surco Spare Tire Rack for Jeep® Vehicles - Quadratec
Thanks in advance for your suggestions
