REPTILICON - Green JKU
Jeff first came to us looking to get some upgrades to his jeep JKU dubbed the Reptilicon. This beast of a vehicle was already built but there were a few tweaks that needed to be added to make his Jeep just right. We were glad to help out with the finishing touches on Reptilicon.
We started by installing our complete Recon Spec Coilover System with 2.0” King Coilovers and King 2.0” hydraulic bump stops. But the Reptilicon rocks 41” IROK Super Swamper’s, so we added a Synergy Manufacturing Tie Rod with a Fox ATS Steering Stabilizer to help keep Reptilicon driving straight down the road.
Lastly we added Rock-Slide Engineering Step Sliders as an added bonus, making it easier to step in and out of the Reptilicon.
If you have any questions on the upgrades to this build, or would like to make some upgrades to your own vehicle, email us at info@rebeloffroad.com

Why run dual rate coil overs if you are going to set the rings so you will only run on the upper coil?
41" tieres and a $300 steering stabilizer instead of power assist steering.
Not sure if I would want you guys setting up my jeep.
Looks like around 6" of lift with no drag link flip.
It is pretty though.

Your right. Rebel is usually on their game and I always thought they knew what they were doing however I won't jump to accusations and give benefit of the doubt. Customer could have wanted what he got or only had a certain budget and might upgrade to what you mentioned later.

I have seen three others that they did in person and none of them were properly set up. Even the one at KOTH this year was just bling and not set up properly as far as the coil overs go.

AMEN!
This jeep was a SEMA Jeep built by another company. The Customer came to us and wanted the look of coilovers and to have it ride a little better. It was already set up at this height and already had 41" IROKS on it with Stock width axles and RCV's. The Teraflex kit was already painted and installed. Please look at the beginning of the thread and you will see this. Rebel only added the coilovers, the tie rod and the steering damper. Thats it. OOps i forgot the Rockslide Slide electric side steps. You know the ones that drop down when you open the door. This is to assist both him and his wife when putting their young kids in the Jeep in their car seats. Please have a look at the interior. while this was not done by us, it is what the customer wanted.
Rebel Offroad is a big believer of heavy duty axles. Anyone who stops by our shop will attest to the fact that lots of the Jeep JK's that are seen at the shop are on D60's and D70's. When we order axles, we actually go wider on the axles that most everyone else. 70" is our REBEL standard. This allows clearance for 40" tires on frame rails etc. Most of the vehicles we build on 40" tires are set up on about 3.5 - 4 inchs of lift. The coilovers are mostly set up for Droop for Rockcrawling. Ram assist is almost always installed when running 40" tires and beefy axles. Note: This is not a JK Built to tackle hard core trails. (Mine is) So the customer opted not to go with a Ram Assist steering set up. When setting up a vehicle at this height (what the customer wanted in this case.) Also, as for the Fox Steering Damper. The customer already had this item and asked us to install it for them. Keep in mind (a $300 Fox Steering Stabilizer or a $2100.00 Parts only for a good Ram Assist) For the customers needs and use of the JK the the Steering Stabilizer is just fine. This JK already had a Hightsteer Draglink when it came into the shop for the coilovers.
As for the coilvovers, when working with each customer and their wants and needs. We must as a shop also take into account the limitations of a JK. Working with all of the electronic sensors, ESP BAS ABS etc. Customers do not want their dash being lit up like a Christmas Tree. So setting the Lower coil (not the Upper) on the secondary nut of the coilover will make the vehicle drive around corners with minimal body roll. It also help when braking as it helps prevent the JK from diving down in the front and make for a very pleasant ride for the owners and their kids.
Guys and Gals,
Not everyone builds a JK for Rock crawling. The wants and needs of each customer differ and the joy that they get out of building their Jeeps and how they see themselves using their JK's is very diverse. Thats what makes this whole Jeep thing have such great appeal. Please lets respect this as we read through the posts etc.
Thank you,
Bond
