Also, rubbing on dd won't be an issue using 35s depending on width and turning. May rub fender wells. If you don't NEED 35s don't buy em. 33s are decent for most applications. If you aren't planning on crawling it or being super aggressive off road don't do it. :-)
Plus you can avoid re gearing.

35s just give it that higher look and looks so much better. and what exactly is re-gearing?

If you change to heavy tires and have that much rotating mass you will need to drop some money to get bigger gears in your differentials. I would search. Now you are talking a 5 inch lift with 35s. That's going to make your transmission very very sad unless you want to crawl down the road. I would say 4.88s or bigger for that much lift.
Search and read my friend. It's a big big deal. :-) always dig up all the info you can and see what others prefer. Everyone has their brand of choice. I'm a teraflex, smittybilt, and OR-fab guy.
Bottoms up! :-)

I know this is a little late, but this is mine with a 1.5'' leveling kit and 285s. I'm 18 and this is my first jeep as well. At first i wanted the same setup you want, 2.5'' lift with 35's. But after researching i realized that was a lot of money to spend and somewhat over kill for what i wanted and needed. i would suggest carefully considering and comparing both before you decide. I'm very happy with mine! what ever you decide to do, I'm sure it will be awesome! Good luck

I went with Teraflex 2.5" coil lift. Nicely priced, relatively easy to install, and still handles well. Plenty of room for 35's. I'm running bfg mtr stock rubicon tires for now. 35's at tax return time!

No need for re-gearing with this lift and 35's. Also Teraflex is a more complete kit than the Rough Country and it has higher quality coils. Nit much more expensive either.

No Lift with 35's
Here is my 2009 X with 35's and no lift. Trimmed fenders and 4 door Rubicon suspension take offs. I wheel the heck out of mine and I love it. Buy 35's you will not regret it!
