Thanks for the compliment.

I think this is one of those "you get what you pay for" parts. Probably cheaper but not of equal quality. I know I've seen cheap racks on eBay.

Is it difficult to get the top off with a rack system like these? I would really like to get one but that was a concern of mine.

Gobi is a great system. Been researching on what to get and found these photos online and this is the setup I plan to get. I like the fact I can keep my 50 inch bar with this setup.

It's not difficult. Just adds a couple steps. I timed myself when mine was on my 07. It took 7 minutes from start to finish which included disconnecting the rack, tilting it, removing the softop windows, putting the top down and then reconnecting the rack.

It would be a little quicker on the newer tops since the don't have a Channel above the door anymore.

I started this thread so that everyone with a Gobi can post up pics of their Jeeps, and for those like myself who are interested in purchasing one can have a place totally committed to it.
I've read through the expedition threads and roof rack threads, I love them all, but there was a ton of info on all of the different items people use and not just the Gobi rack. I'm about 99% sure that the Gobi is the way I am going to end up going, but I'd still like everyone to post up their pics and information/opinions they have gained on owning this rack.
Well, for gas mileage, I installed the roof rack only for about 2 weeks, then did the lift, tires and wheels. I saw a slight decrease in mpg in short freeway jaunts, but longer trips not so much. In town, I didn't notice too much until obviously I added bigger tires and a lift.
Overall, with all of the above, I have a pretty light foot when I just drive around town, so only 2-3 mpg decrease from stock. When I do drive more aggressively, yeah, 10mpg all day.

When all loaded up like the above pictures, there is definitely a decrease in freeway and 40-60mph speeds. But around town, and crawling around, obviously no difference.

Any other particulars just post them up!
