Default Water tank in the stock bumper

First, I take no credit for the idea; saw a post on another forum and knew I wanted to do something like it. (Edit: I now see that EdsJunk has posted his write-up on the JK-forum, so credit goes to him. His is a pressurized system; all I wanted is a tank and gravity outflow.)

The OEM rear bumper is one big hollow tank, capable of holding between 7-8 gallons.
Since I do a lot of trips out on the desert, where water is more precious than whiskey, having more water than you need is a plus.

There are four small breathing holes on the bumper that need to be plugged, and a 1/4" dowel fits perfectly. Caulked them up and they were water-tight.

Dilled a 1" hole on the top for filling the bumper, and used a black plastic plug with a zip tie as the pull handle; blends right in.

Used a 3/8 x 1/4" brass valve for the outlet, with plastic tubing. The piece of velcro holds it up under the bumper when not needed.

Total cost was about $8.

BTW, an amazing amount of dust got in through those 4 small breather holes. Took a half hour of washing to get it (and soap suds) all out.

I am going to do the same thing, instead of pressurized, I'll do what you did and go with gravity.

i don't think you'd want to drink water out of there. use the water for washing, cleaning stuff
