Kinda a specific shock really made for racing that only allows you to run 1 shock or won't let you run hydraulic bump stops. Better off with separates if you are not racing.

Why can't you run hydraulic bump stops with these shocks?

You can but is redundant since that what the internal bypass does. It acts as a hydraulic bump stop.
This style of shock was developed due to some race organizations not allowing you to run hydraulic bump stops on the race car. Its just one of their rules. Thats why I say it is specific. It typically better to run separates for more tuning control.

Yeah, its definitely not for everyones setup and what they use. I left my current bump stops the way they are instead of running new ones as the shocks have them. The fronts worked out perfectly for my Jeep. Im just losing 2 inches of up travel with the rear and my current setup, which is why I'm letting them go. Just allowing the rears to go to someone who wants a good deal and could benefit from them.
