Default 2007 sahara unlimited transfer case chatter...

Hey,
I have a 2007 Sahara unlimited lifted on 35s. Recently a chatter/clatter/rattleing nosise has been coming from under the jeep. The noise is at 20mph and up. I tried switching it into 4H and the noise went away; aswell as 4L. I put the jeep on a lift and had a buddy run the jeep at idle, 10, 20, 30, and 40 mph while i stood under listening where the noise came from. Was not able to duplicate the problem while on the lift. So apparently the noise only happends at and above 20mph(under a load)(Tires on the ground, driving) On and off road same issue. Anyone out there have any similar problems, or does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Thanks Shane

Possibly. I have no idea how to even check that... Yea it did go away in 4 high and 4 low.

Origionally I was thinking that since the transfer case is chain driven, it could possibly be a loose chain in the case. but honestly i have no idea.

Check if the exhaust is resting on the tranny skid plate...that's what's going on in my 2009 Sahara, and at first got me worried.

2nd the possibility of an exhaust vibration. I have two suggestions. Go under there with a dead blow hammer and tap on things to see if you can cause a rattle or vibration. 2nd, see if the sound occurs while parked at the same RPMs you run at 20mph. If it still rattles while parked you've eliminated the turning bits.

Hope it's something simple.
