Default 2010 oil burner, what are my options?

I have a 2010 dr auto that has started burning oil. It seems to be getting worse. It burns at least a quart every 1k miles. I think I have 2 weeks left on my warranty. I'm wondering if it would be covered if I can get them to start the oil consumption test. I wondering if they will even consider it because its a 2010. Anyone have this issue on there later model 3.8 motors?

You've got 5yr/100k on the 2010 motor.....or at least I've got that standard warranty on my powertrain. The bumper to bumper is different.

I would absolutely take it in and have them start a case. Then you can prove there was an issue within the warranty period.

What weight oil are you running?

After I noticed the problem I switched to 5w30 but now I think it burns that even more!

So you started at 5w-20? Synthetic? What's your current 5w-30 spec??

You can continue to evaluate and explore the issue yourself, but I would get it at least documented at the dealer that there is an issue. You may have to take it in there a couple times to get a motor replacement....depends on the dealer.

Yeah started with synthetic on my first change. I would say it started burning around 25k or at least thats when I noticed. I will be changing it tomorrow feom 5w30 sythetic to normal oil for now so I dont waste to much more money.

Nobody else helping me out here...

Ok, so how many miles are you at now? I wouldn't change the oil just yet until you get to the dealer, they may want to change it for you and see if it leaks. Have you done any intake cleaners? Combustion chamber cleaners??

Fyi- I'm in a 10 with 5w-30 syn (swapped from reg dino) without a drop of oil burned. I do the intake/ combustion cleaners every now and again.....all with 87k miles.

I'm about 3 quarts low now so I was going to change it. I think im around 33k miles. I have used a fuel system cleaner every now and again. Lucas fuel system and sefoam every now and again. I love my jeep and my color so I really dont want to trade it in but I'm out of patience with the dealers and Chrysler.

Get to the dealer asap and have them start an oil consumption test so everything is documented. Check the levels before take it in to verify their readings. They will probably replace your pcv valve, which may help some, and obviously change your oil. Make sure to go back and have them check the levels at the intervals they specify. This needs to be the first step.
