I think it is. I have only had it since Christmas so I don't have a idea how it will be over time. I keep my pistol and procal in it and could put more in there if I wanted to. Handy to have.

I installed one in my 2012 2dr. Had to modify the drivers seat but it turned out well. Bestop told me that they don't make a lockbox for the 2012 2dr due to the way the seats move forward and up.

I still need to TIG the seat supports to the box. The seat functions normally and doesn't feel compromised. If you're into modding your stuff, I'm sure the rest of the details of the installation will be apparent when you cut first and never question a decision...

I just put one in about 3 weeks ago on my 2012 JKU. You have to move some electrical harness plugs which they supply a set of zip ties with the box and the instructions cover this. The entire install took about 15 minutes. I love it. Great secure place to lock up my sidearm when I go some where it can't be carried. Much more secure than the plastic center console.

I have one of these in my 2012 JKU as well. But it rattles a lot. Sometimes I put my heal on it and that helps, but has anyone solved the rattle? I was thinking of covering the exterior of the drawer with Dynamat. Thoughts? Im notbsure the drawer even comes all the way out. BTW, Bestop is now making one for the passenger side as well.

Mine does that too on my 2008... the best solution I've found is to extend the bumpstop to something larger. I've even thought of a compression spring.

Overall I'm pretty glad I got it. It's nice to have one place that is somewhat impenetrable when you're running doors off and topless.
