I bought my 2012 Rubicon through the military Exchange New Car Sales (ENCS). In addition to the $500 rebate, I got an early bird discount of $2000 and the following:

Chrysler Loyalty Discount - $500 (proof that I own or owned a Chrysler vehicle)

College Discount - $500 (proof of enrollment)

There are three prices. MSRP, Invoice and Holdback.

The dealer has to make something, otherwise no one could afford to build the vehicle.

I have a hard time believing that the dealer would give his entire holdback unless you are a very frequent customer and buy lots of vehicles, or there is some gimmick with the pricing.

I would love to see the 3.5% numbers!

I know what I am getting off and it is less than invoice by a substantial amount, but the dealer is still making some money on me. They have to.

A good relationship with your dealer is worth much more than trying to beat them out of the last cent.....

Just my 2 cents.

Yup, that stuff is important. I have a spreadsheet that I take with me to dealers to help track all of that stuff.

It is easy to get 7% under invoice......if you are getting shafted on your trade-in, and the dealer "adding on" an extra $250 for VIN etching and "special PDI".

Some big dealers will sell you an ordered Jeep at cost. They do it to get their numbers up to meet quotas and get incentives from Chrysler. It doesn't happen all the time. You got a great deal if they didn't hit you with any extra fees.

This is true but you have to hit them up on the correct month... I think they call it a ladder program.

They really lay it on to get the program goal.
