Default Diesel sold in Norway, unlimited Rubicon with front seats ONLY, $100.000+

The 2.8L Diesel have been sold for years in Europe. Wonder why it's not an option in the US....?
Not that I want one.....

This one is with front seats only, due to a stupid Norwegian law (It's registred as a commercial/pick up truck, to avoid $50.000 extra in import taxes...)
One of the reason I moved....

A stock Unlimited Sahara with all 5 seats is $119.000 + fees in Norway.

The side mirror seems excessive.

I agree... Terrible. But the dealer need to sell it "street legal". I'm sure any buyer will get something else

Diesel would be awesome! But since i already bought mine i kinda hope they dont come out with it in the next year or two hahaha. Just the new shiny toy thing.

They register it as a pick up but leave it as a 4 door??? Do they have some sort of registration or law about fender width? Those things are wide! Curious how they have light mounted in front.

Why did the put four decent tires and left the spare stock? Mirrors are kinda goofy looking, but all in all I've seen a lot worse.

The stupid ass law says you need to be able to fit a box of 1m3 (cubic meter) in the back, and it can only be registred for max 3 people, to avoid the extra fees for a family car (5+ seats)
It's the governments way of sticking it to the consumer that wants a nice car...

My last car, a 2008 Ford Expedition 4x4 limited was $50k here in the US, but the same car would have been $200k in Norway due to weight and V8 import tax.
That's why so many are driving tiny cars up there, with 3-4 cylinders....

Not to mention, gas is $14 pr gallon (and 85% of the price is taxes to the goverment).... You will never hear me complain over $4 a gallon here in the US!!!

Hi from Sweden

We also get the the diesel engine here in Sweden. I got the Pentastar engine instead.

The diesel engine cost almost 6000 dollar more than the Pentastar petrol engine on a Wrangler unlimited in Sweden.

The anual car tax for a petrol pentastar wrangler to the covernment is about 500 dollar, for the diesel it is about 1000 dollar a year.

Petrol is rated 11.7 L/100km

Diesel is rated 8.8 L/100km

Some say that diesel will cost more in EU because the lack of it.

And from EU

"All subsidies for diesel should be phased out.”

from Tackle emissions from diesel cars, EU ministers told | TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk

If this happens, it will probably reduce the sales of diesel wrangler in Europe and and other continents if they adopt "EU thinking" and then it would probably even affect a future diesel wrangler in US.

Best regards from Sweden.
