Default Hardtop Interior painting...

Not much to see here... Haven't even taken any pics yet... Hell, I probably even need to because several write ups exist on the subject! I just want to say that if you have a hard top that is still that ridiculous white inside, paint that sucker black!! MAN UP and GO FOR IT.... I finished my yesterday evening and DAAAANG if feels and looks better. No more feeling like i'm cruising around in an ice cooler. It's amazing the difference it makes.

I used a flat black rustoleum paint for plastics etc.. ACE Hardware has is on sale 2 for 1 for their Labor day sale. It dried uber fast and coated/stuck great. Minus the time taken for a little prep work, I was done in no time. For less than $20, change your interior for the better!

Would you mind some pics? Also, what did you do for prep work?

Thumbs up

Yeah guys, I'll snap some pics tomorrow.. As far as prep, I simply removed the hardware and taped over the little bit of foam and rubber and got bizzaaay! I've only done the driver and passenger portions of my freedom top. I'll be doing the large back portion this week.

I used rustoleum 2x flat black paint+primer.. It's great stuff.. Ever other write up I saw said that sanding and all that jazz wasn't necessary, so I didn't do it and it worked out fine.

The difference is amazing.... Feels so much better.... To me anyway!

It is 100% worth it, the look is so much better. I used Duplicolor Bedliner on mine over a year ago it is holding strong even under the freedom top latches.

Excellent... I was THIS close to using bedliner..... But, at 2 for $5, price won over coolness Hehehe!.. That being said, I sure would like bedliner on the OUTSIDE of my hard top! That joker scratches up easy in the woods

While I'm not a huge fan of the all white inside of the top, I don't like the all black interiors.

I went with saddle leather and Hotheads as I felt is was more inviting. I like how the Hotheads break up the white.

I use a green pad and some cleaner, I think maybe simple green, just to clean it and kind a de-gloss it. Sprayed it with water hose and let it dry in the sun. Taped it off and removed the hardware. Took more than a few cans if I remember right.
