I ran a Deka intimidator battery years ago, and it was a great deep cycle battery. I wouldn't hesitate to use one again.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that gel was one type of battery and Absorbed Glass Mat was another kind? AGM batteries are supposed to be far superior to a gel state battery. They use AGM battery's on satellites and Deep space probes.

You are probably right. This what I was told at the shop that AGM was gel.

3 months ago I installed an Interstate (AGM) absorbed glass mat, Part # MT7-34.

Our cost at my work was $208.00 since we are a dealer. MSRP $259.95

Our distributor said it was made by Odyssey.

Flooded wet cell, gel cell, and AGM are three different types of lead acid batteries.

AGM is Absorbed Glass Mat. It uses thin fiberglass type dividers between the lead cells so they can pack them in tightly but keep the plates from making contact with each other aswell as absorb and hold the liquid electrolyte. The ability to pack more plates and having those plates held tightly in place makes them able to have more power and be more vibration resistant.

I put an Oriely,s Super Start AGM in 18 months ago. The research I did found it is a re-branded Deka. No problems so far.

If you decide to go with a Deka battery, go with the intimidator. It is an AGM battery.
