It's not a niche market anymore. Too many soccer moms and teens driving them with no intentions of going offroad. They all look at you like you're crazy when you wave.
I have noticed, however, the true enthusiasts always wave.

You guys are funny. I've had Corvettes on and off for the past 25 years. THOSE people blow up the Corvette Forum when someone doesn't wave back. Same with sportbikes and Harleys. I've only had the Jeep a few weeks and have received waves from about one out of every 25 Jeeps I pass. Corvettes used to run about 30% to 50%. Sportbikes about 90%. Harleys about 75%.
Personally, I'd rather just drive and not worry about waving.

I have question... what's with all the JK bashing? I thought this was the JK Forum. I've only had my JKU for a few months and I love it and I wave at all the Jeeps Wranglers I see. I probably get a 70% wave back here in CT by non-mods and mods alike. If you think the wave is dying perhaps it is because a lot of you seem to be very judgemental about what kind of Jeep the other person is driving and whether they deserve a wave or not. Either way, I'll keep waving even if my JKU isn't modified YET.

I don't think anyone is bashing the JK crowd or jeeps in general. I think they're just saying more and more people are buying jeeps as they would any other regular SUV and are not interested in the jeep crowd. Those that are on the forums got their jeep for a purpose. Obviously they've joined the forums to be involved with other like minded individuals are they're just venting because some others don't share their passion.

I'm from the south where it's a cultural thing anyway. Growing up everyone waved at everyone else. Now I think it's instinct for most to wave back for people over 40. It's the younger people who don't. They are probably texting or otherwise distracted.

I know what you mean coming from a small town with everyone waving, only I'm always thrown into that younger crowd you mention. I'm 23 and have an 11 JKU I should have it payed for within the year, but it's a lot of the older people who judge me. Idk if it's that they don't think I deserve it, or that they think I didn't buy it myself? I wave to them all, but maybe only a 15-20% return. I agree that too many people are on there phones, but here in Wisconsin it's not just young people I see as many middle age male and females swerving down the highway.
