I bought a new 2014 JKU (my first) last September. I cannot believe the rust on the underside of it after six months. I live in Missouri where we salt the roads, but did an above average job of keeping it sprayed off. Is this normal? Click image for larger version

Yes my 14 was this way new on the lot. I did a chassis paint to mine. Cleaned as much as I could with wire wheel first. Sent from my iPad using JK-Forum

My brand new dynatrac d80 axles that i ordered and put under the jeep 6 months ago are already rusted solid and have never been outside wxcept for the day we put the body back on frame. The problem is several places on the axles have no paint at all. Same as stock gear on jeep. No paint applied in cast iron places.

Yep.. This would be considered "normal" even for a semi well kept jeep.. Not much one can do other than treat or pretreat surfaces.. maybe a rust prevention here or there, short of actually doing a total restoration.

Default i still say

were getting chinese steel that has rust in the steel before they paint it even . My old 1995 ford f 150 looked better underneath like 18 years later i sold it for $1,500 cash . Nothing was wrong with it either i had replaced everything that might have gone bad 6 inch lift and new 35s that i had just payed 1200 in tires . and some new front end parts and 120k orig easy miles I thought a new jeep will last forever for me if the old truck did . hmmm not so sure the jeep could last 18 years with out rotting out ? or motor going ?

oh well, things we learn . That truck had balls too ! i miss the *8foot bed to carry shit in too .

I do love the jeep but the quality control isnt that great on them it appears.
