Default Question about metal jerry cans

I recently bought a Blitz jerry can and was wanting to mount it up to my jeep. My only concern is that I live in a region where we have winter conditions for 8 months out of the year... Will I get condensation and rust to form on the inside if I have it mounted on my jeep year round? Any way to prevent this?

I'm just curious about this because I don't want rust and crap in my gas, but I want a jerry can I can keep on the jeep year round. That being said, would I be better off with a Rotopax fuel container? ie: something plastic.

It would be cool if they made jerry cans in plastic. Ones that look like the old jerry cans.

The can material (metal vs plastic) is less important than how you use it. Always keep the can full to prevent rust and use the gas from the container and refill with new gas every 4-6 weeks because gas does break down over time. I have seen guys stuck on the trail because they used old gas from a can... Bad gas = bad day.

Throw some Stabil in there if you plan to store the gas for a long time.

I guess even a little bit of rust probably won't hurt anything either... That's what the fuel filter is for right?

Well, if anyone has a similar concern about rusting on the inside of a metal jerry can, I found a product that will prevent that. It's called US Standard Fuel Tank Sealer...just Google it.
