Just installed my new racor lift in the garage. I Want to use ratchet straps but what length? I'll probably also use some extra ropes for safety also. What do you use to secure your hardtop to the racor with?

Also interested as I have the Racor lift in my garage ready to install. I bought the thick yellow straps from HD but not sure I looked at the length. Know they were the ones that held 600-700 lbs each but didn't take into account if they were long enough.

Just checked and I have the 16 Ft Cargo Boss straps from HD. They are rated at 2100 lbs each. Measuring the hard top from the front to back, it's just over 5 ft. So double that and then some slack to wrap around the Racor platform, I think that should work. But happy to hear opinions for those using this lift.

I have the yellow ones from HD as well. No issues. I'm not sure how long they are but I believe 16'. I have them go across the top so ~30" each side for 60" and say 5' across for a total of 120" or 10' and it looks like my excess is ~6'.

I feared that hanging from the straps would stretch out the spacing where the hard top mounts to the tub, so I stretched my Racor lift and actually put it on top. It sits on some pipe insulation to keep it from being damaged. The cables that lift the top also have insulation on them to keep them from rubbing, and the hold the top on tight.

I kind of worried about that when I first decided to remove it. The front seems to be flexible enough where lining up the mounting pins would be easy and the rear by the window is rigid. I put the strap hooks from the front into the mounting holes so if anything it would pull in tighter but it doesn't appear to have flexed at all in over a year. I don't plan on putting it back on anytime soon if at all so I won't know for sure until then.
