Should my front drive shaft spin freely in 2wd?

No, your front driveshaft will not spin freely in 2wd. Your front axle and driveshaft are always locked and spinning when your vehicle is moving. When you engage the 4wd in the transfer case it then gets power transfer along with the rear wheels. No free wheeling hubs on your JK.

Yeah kinda. Laying under it, if I grab the drive shaft should I be able to turn it (like unlocked hubs) or will it not turn like the t-case is engaged? In my opinion in 2wd it should be free, 4wd it shouldn't be..

Ok, with a pickup, like a ford, when you put it in 4wd, it engages the transfer case to spin the front drive shaft AND locks the front wheel hubs. (you used to have to get out and lock them manually back in the day)
With the jeep, you don't have locking hubs.
It's built that way for strength. You can get hubs that lock/unlock, but you won't have 5x5 wheels anymore.
with the hubs locked, your front gears are always spinning and staying lubed up.
You trade increased rolling resistance and worse MPG for strength.
