Default soft top problems

I have had my jeep for 3 weeks (used 2010), and have taken the top off a hand full of times. Just noticed today that there is 2 small rips along the front. I noticed that the top sometimes rubs the 3rd brake light when removing and reinstalling, and the rips happen to line up with the screws on the back of the light. Anyone else have this problem, Or am I screwing the removal up? What's the solution?

You can take the top down with the gate open. Then the break light is out of the way.

That is a simple solution, didn't think of that!

Any ideas how to repair these before they become a big problem?

I don't know about the repair, hope someone else can chime in about that.
