My 09 Sahara needs a new top. I'm torn between replacing the soft top or getting the 3 piece freedom top. Any input would be appreciated.

We live in Phoenix as well. I HATED my Freedom top. Sold it on CL for $2000 and bought a used soft top (also CL) for $300. For two full years I ran with doors on with the Bikini top. I only put the full soft top on for winter trips to Flagg and Sedona. Headed East Coast soon for about 18-24 months, so looks like I'll have the full soft top on for a while. Still bringing the Bikini top though.

Trektop NX! The factory soft top blows. The NX has straight zippers and less chance for messing up like the rear window.

Like with anything on the Jeep, it's what you want/need.
I am in the Northeast, and see a lot of snow. I like the hardtop, because we only have about 9 weeks of summer...Yes, it's a pain in the ass to take the rear section of hard top off, just for the weekend, but the trade off is that I get the added security. I have had soft top windows slashed.
If I had more of a summer, I would definitely go with trektop....looks awesome.

Get the soft-top. I've never seen the point of having a Wrangler and "only" a hard-top.

To add, if you're joining us on the East Coast and have access to a garage for when heavy snow falls, you can get away with a soft-top only, the insulation and heater keep it cozy in frigid weather, then roof off for the rest. Our JK has been soft top only for the past 8 years, now on its second top after the original frame fell apart -- we weren't gentle to it.

I've heard good things of the Trektop Pro, you get the glass windows and a rigid frame of the hard top, but the flexibility to take off the windows and roof easily.
