I bought a 2013 with the basic speaker package and it sounded horrible, so I bought a nice kenwood HU and I have a nice 10" sub and now it sounds great. So why do I see all the jeeps running around with stock HU? Why not upgrade?

My stock HU sounds like crap too (JL Audio speakers throughout) but it iust isn't that important for me to drop the coin into a new HU right now. Besides, I am enjoying some free Sirrus radio right now since it was enabled when I bought the Jeep used a few months ago.

I have an 07 JK with the infinity system and subwoofer, it sounds great. If you buy a new jeep w/o sub it's going to sounds weak.
The HU is fine as i just plug my iphone to it via 1/8 mini cable.

Not bad if you are willing to drop money on the sound system, lol. My license plate is JEEPSK8 if that is any indication.

I have the stock HU with uconnect. I actually like the built in Bluetooth and ipod voice control.

Speakers/power sucked, which is why I have polk audio components and coax speakers, two pioneer amps, and a JLw8 sub in a custom box.

I think my setup sounds very good, and best of all everything looks stock

I like the way the stock unit handles and looks but if it will sound good with upgraded speakers I might do that

Stock has been fine for me. 100x better than my WRX. I spend now till September doorless, so I try not to attract wandering eyes.

The head unit is junk underpowered and sounds like crap. Saying that it gets the job done and I won't change it out until my serious/xm subscription is over. I like driving across 5 states and not having to change the station.
