Depends on where u park - Sticky fingers know how to remove bolts... Build a box under the rear seats (4door model).. I've seen a couple write ups in here.

Theft is all about convenience, harder to get to less likely it will be stolen. That's my two cents.

I drove today with the top off, but I pulled my sub out before I left the house.
Better to be safe than sorry

I would also go with a water resilient enclose. Fiberglass or composite.

You are being vague are you talking about stock sub or aftermarket

If its stock a really doubt somebody wants to steal it

If you got a couple of 10 or 12 and nicer then you really need to come up a way to keep them

Me I run a single 8 in a custom box and I do not worry about it getting stolen why you ask who the hell wants to steal a single 8 , I run doorless and topless 8 months out of the year it has been rained on way more times then I like

I cut out a nice sheet of plywood to match the cargo area of the two door covered it in some carpet and bolted the sub to that with some off the wall size star screws, if they dont have a star bit handy to unbolt it they can always cut the wires and take it, but thwn they have to deal with that big ol piece of plywood, just make it hard for them. also keep a nice trash bag handy to cover it up in rain

downward firing is always good, I used to have an eye bolt in my box then ran a thick bike cable combination lock thru the eye bolt and around the rear seat frame base. wasn't going anywhere easily

I built one of my friends a box yesterday for his 93 model jeep. Build to hold two kicker cvt 12. The box is behind the rear seats and as long as the rear gate is locked there is no way to remove it due to the fact That its 3 inches wider at the bottom than the top. It's a wooden box coated with flex seal and the subs are down fired.
