Lightbulb Used JkU or New ??? help with your oppinions.

Hey guys and gals.

I was all set to get a new 2013 JKU Rubicon this weekend, and the one I wanted sold before I got there. It's my fault, I should have put a deposit on it but I didn't.

Here's where I need some help:

I want a Jeep for weekend fun and to pull behind my Diesel Pusher.

Would a used 2007-2010 with a Ripp supercharger run better than a stock 2013?

My buddy says to go used and fix it up.

The new one was $43k OTD which is pretty much my cash budget. I was planning on financing $10k and save some cash for a lift and tires.

I have seen some used stuff for $25k, which would leave me $18k for mods.

I had an old YJ but have been out of Jeeps along time.

What would you guys do, why?

Thanks for your input,

Cory

I'd say buy used since it's gonna be a weekend warrior and hook that bad boy up good!

With the budget you're suggesting I think you should look at a hemi swap before the going with RIPP.

Have you driven one with the new engine? You may think that after a re-gear its all you need. I would suggest that first then go from there. GL either way sounds like you have alot of fun modding on the way.

Maybe look at a used 2012 JKUR. That way you save about 10K and can buy some upgrades

I say used for a weekend warrior, but I'm biased since I just bought new to take overseas next year and I'll be selling my modded JKU when I get back from Iraq on my R&R in March lol....

Thanks guys.

I found a 2009 with a Magnuson supercharger I'm going to look at and drive today. I just want to get the right one the first time. My gut keeps saying get a new one and go nuts!

I agree with the above posts that the new 2013's with a re-gear might be enough. You never know what you're going to get buying a used vehicle with a supercharger already installed on it.... boom....
