Wheeling an expensive Jeep.

Different strokes for different folks, sir. Some people just like the look of a Jeep and will pay the money to drive it... on pavement, only. It's their money and I could care less what they did with it. If they like Jeeps then we have something in common.

I don't think anybody wants body damage on a newer Jeep, but those of us who go wheeling accept some risk. Just be careful and don't do anything too crazy. Around here there are so many cool places to go off-road and I still see a lot of Jeeps that never leave the pavement.

Yup.. right on! Perhaps they like to cruise around with the doors and top off... I'll give 'em a wave or talk about our jeeps regardless of whether they take it off road.

I bought a brand new 2016 JK two door sport for 32k. I've modified it over the last 10 months and wheel it once a month. It's my daily driver. If I wanted to keep it stock and never go wheeling, I would have bought something else, probably a mini cooper countryman S AWD.
Never let non JK owners fool you, few Jeeps top the look and feel of a modified JK. They're all jealous and will never admit it.

From personal experience, Geico will cover off road damage as long as it can be found on a map. Fire and logging trails - covered. Rock garden or something similar middle of nowhere - not covered. They covered me for $7k in damage back in 2011. Of course they dropped me after but who cares, same basic rates on all the insurers.

I took my 17 Rubicon 4 door wheeling with under 1000 miles on the odometer. Sure I don't want body damage but just be careful when in precarious situations and add skids and sliders and you should be ok. There is always a chance of body damage but that could happen in the target parking lot too. It's a Jeep, get out there and enjoy it!

I know a lot of overlanders who stopped rock crawling and mud bogging because they didn't like tearing up their rigs. LOL: That still hasn't kept me from sheet metal damage, pinstriping, rocks in the windshield, and tree limbs into other glass.

I wheel my 14 but I'm very conservative to some of my other buddies. If I do happen to "try something" I usually hope and pray for the best and get out and check out things beforehand. HOWEVER, I did have an issue on a park trail/road. As Marbleheadguy mentioned, my insurance company covered me for nasty body damage I encountered. I too had a hefty bill but stopped at the body and didn't claim anything else (axle) as I figured I'd eat it.
I truly don't enjoy the pinstriping from limbs but when I'm out there having fun, it makes it all worth it. My Jeep has opened up a whole new world for me and my family. I would've never been able to let me wife and daughters experience nature like they have with the Jeep.
