When the wife says no
#41
Then sometime later in the night in a disconnected sentence, that being no pre-conversation building up to the question was, "what are you going to do with that thing?" After several minutes "that thing" was defined and she was informed on what was going to be done with "it". Then it was the "oh whatever" look.

Nothing to get away with... I choose a MOD, I save for the MOD and I buy the MOD. So, she will be ok... I don't argue or fight about anything to be honest. I am not sensitive or emotional (except for my horrible road rage) and I pretty much ignore most things... Her complaints about mods just happens to be one of them...

Attachment 546401The problem I have with my wife is she has a 13 JKU and I a 10 JK so it's not when can I get this or that, it's who will get it first.
My wife has a white XJ sport that I'm just finishing up her build 2.0 on (1.0 lasted about 10 years, but she's got some new ideas). This round she replaces her RE 2" lift with an OME HD lift (using the 934 ZJ springs), adding an OR Fab rock slider winch bumper (with my old XRC-8 winch and new synthetic rope), Black Rock 942 wheels with 31" Duratracs, and a snorkel (knowing her for the past 25 years, she will test this snorkel to the limits)...her XJ is pretty much setup like my JKUR now--stepping out into the garage is like a jeep junkies dream. God, I love her (XJ)...

I made the newbie mistake when I first bought the jeep, talked about ALL of the mods I want to make. After the second week of her walking in on me looking at jeep-porn, she starts with the "you don't need a new bumper on a brand new jeep". Last week, I go out and get into a situation where I needed a winch. I get super-lucky and get out of the jam I was in. But, she understood at that point why the first mod I want is the bumper/winch combo. So, my stupidity is the key to getting what I need.

When random parts get delivered, I tell her, "Oh honey that's the thing that was on backorder I ordered like 2 months back. Remember? I told you about ot when I ordered it." If she gives you sh*t, just pull the whole reverse "You never listen to me" line.. She'll begin to question herself, and BLAMO, you're home free!! It's worked everytime, BUT you can't use it everytime!! Unless she's a complete ditz, she's going to catch on.. It's a good one to use here and there ; )
