Camping at Green Ridge State Forest MD
Went camping 2 weeks ago with my bro who was in from Cali and my dad who lives near me. We went to Green Ridge State Forest in MD. No snow, but cold and a little icy. Spent 2 days and 2 nights hiking and exploring the area. This is why I bought my Jeep. Got to try out my new D2 from Rigid, love them on the trails. I was able to see up into the woods along the side of the roads while I was driving. The D2s have a great beam for exactly what many of us do, I highly recommend them. We saw a dozen or so dear and even found a place to wash the Jeep off before heading home. The forest is nice for mild wheeling and just getting somewhere quiet.

It's $10 a night to camp, just pay at the park office and pick a site. Think there is 100 of them scattered throughout. It's all primitive camping. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table.

The water crossing is just North of RT40 along 15 mile creek road. You cant mis it. But no, there is a paved option. We just couldnt resist when we saw it.

I'm a big fan of Green Ridge. I'm actually going out there in just a couple of weeks. Which campsite are you at for these pics? I'm always looking to add new sites to my list of favorites out there.

Roger...what sites do you recommend are good sites at Green Ridge? I am looking for something secluded, close to water, but also be able to park near.
I am also curious what site those pictures were taken at. Thanks in advance. Brain

If you're looking for water to fish, there's a pond right next to site 32. The site is a hundred feet or so off the road but the entrance is wide open so you can see the road. When I was at this site, the road wasn't too busy so it wasn't a big deal. It's otherwise in between two hills so there's nobody to your left or right. There's a small creek that runs down the side but it's nothing to fish in. Decent site with a good bit of parking.
Site 29 is about a half mile from the pond and pretty huge. It seems to be pretty popular so it's hard to get to and didn't have a lot of wood to burn when I was there a month or so ago...got lucky and the snow brought down a large pine...
Otherwise, there are a lot of sites along the river that I haven't stayed at yet. You'll see them on the map when you check in at the ranger station.
Hope that helps!
