A bison stampede headed across the road in front of us as we're traveling through the Henry Mountains. Captured on GoPro footage.

Still working on this particular video (part 3), but the earlier parts from this fascinating trip into the lessor traveled areas of southern Utah are online, YouTube, DigitalByDoiron, Beehive B-Sides.

Very cool. In Texas, the state has an official heard that resides in Caprock Canyon State Park. They just roam freely through a large portion of the park. They're very cool to watch, but you don't really get a full appreciation until you are just feet away as in your pictures. At that point you realize how massive they are. What a cool memory for you.

That was shot on Wichita Mtns Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, Oklahoma. About 650 bison are in that herd. But never seen more than a dozen or so together at one time during my many visits. This guy was alone, which is typical for bulls for much of the year. He was also in a part of the refuge where bison don't usually go--east of Mt Scott. I had been hiking around shooting a few pics and when I returned found him grazing. I deferred to his size, LOL.
