lets give this a try, installing an atlas 2 t case in a 2dr rubicon

first thing is you dont need to jack the jeep up, engage e brake shift in nuetral and t case in neutral, chock blocks just in case.

remove skid plate 4 bolts 18mm socket


remove front and rear driveshafts, 8mm open/box end wrench, and 15mm socket for the front 4 bolts impact wrench perferred there tight




once there removed disconnect the breather hose on top and electrical connection

use a flat bladded screw driver to pry off the shift linkage comes off real easy

now proceed with unbolting the 6 nuts that attach the t case to transmission 2 on top, 2 on bottom, 2 on the sides 15 mm open/box end wrench for the 2 bottom nuts, use a 15mm socket and 12 ext. for the two on the side, now for the top 2, drivers side top use 15mm socket, 12 ext. with universal , passenger side top, use a 15mm stubby open/box end wrench its a tight fit

now place your jack under your tcase and remove

will post again on the actual install of the atlas






well the atlas when in 3 times once to check clocking, 2nd time for good but wouldnt seat properly, 3rd time took out and stays out till next week tcase to trans adapter too shallow need spacer or new adapter will call them monday should have check measurements

heres a pic on the center console removed along with the stock t case shifter this was probably the hardest part only because its so damn hot here

by the way console removal 4 t30 bolts 2 on each side unsnap the shifter boot with a plastic pry tool unsnap center trim piece, pull straight up to remove t case shifter knob, pull inner shift boot to gain access to t40 bolt to remove shifter, engage e brake all the way up pull harder you should now be able to lift center trim piece forward and up and out, now lift center console from rear up over the e brake and straight up and out, now unbolt your ex. tcase shifter 4 10mm nuts save those nuts. now with bolt cutters cut the cable and pull cable out from bottom save grommet and trim hole larger

extreme 4x4 did a segment on the Atlas transfer case when they did there JK Extreme build. I watched it through Itunes.

I just downloaded and watched the Xtreme 4x4 show from Xbox Live and it sounded like they sent the stock case to AA and they made a "turn-key" Atlas that would drop right into the JK. Slick! So did they send the wrong adapter or what?

Pics to come wife has camera today anyways once i got the right spacer for the atlas which by the way needs to be 1 inches to allow the input shaft to seat properly. The atlas bolted right up, installed new driveshafts and finished shifter installation and reinstalled console. now for the extra stuff you will need to do install a new rear axle flange which happens to be the one used on the front axle make sure you take off the factory dust cover which is on the new flange now you have so many options on driveshafts depending what flange or yoke you install on the atlas I went with a 1300 series 32 spline flange front and rear, 1350 double carden drive shafts. Advance adapters has pretty good instructions on the installation just read them place all your parts out and get to work now on your driveshafts unfortunate nobody has the correct sizes in there database so measurements have to be taken after the tcase is bolted up at least for now one more thing back off your shift detents on the atlas 1/4 turn till your first service, it will make shifting much easier now your ready to upgrade brakes
