This came out nice. If you are looking for a better paint look in to raptor liner. Will go on thick and is a good choice to help hide minor imperfections. Plus it's tough as nails.

I need to add some photos of the way I mounted the rack through the hardtop to the roll bar. Ended up being some angle iron and a trip to ace for a bunch of misc hardware. Surprisingly simple once I got around to doing it.

I skimmed thru this thread hoping to see how you mounted the rear most part of the hardtop to the roll bar. I also have been going thru the process of building a similar setup but instead of cutting up my 4dr top I searched for a 2 Dr model and trimmed it at the body line. My only dilemma is the mounting to the roll bar at the back since it won't be resting on the roll bar but floating above it. Kept the factory rear top corner edge and chopped in line with the hard body line. Here is a shot of the chopped 2 Dr sitting on top of the 4 door.

Lots of sanding and filling later and she's looking closer to a completed project just need to get the rear mounted to what I think will be the way it's mounted to the jeep( a 3 piece mounting bracket) pictures will come after I get it all fabed up.

Had some time today to try out the top and mock up the mount to the rear most bracket. The original idea didn't work out as it fell short of the bracket I built and it pushed the roof up in the back. so I have to go with something else. If this would have been just a summer top it would be one thing but since this is a year round top I need to be able to have clearance to mount it in a good spot.

Pic with the bracket is the original idea less the cross bar that would be mounted directly to the top.
