Clockspring Replacement
#11
Airbag light and chime went off constantly. Horn and cruise worked. Dealer wanted 466.00$ for a 75% chance this would fix it. Purchased clockspring and installed myself in less than a half hour. No more light and chime dinging. Thank you for the write up! Saved me 264 bucks.

Bummer, sorry it didn't help...

Thanks for this write up. replacing it myself saved me 300 bucks. I will agree on those clips, those were a real B to get off but the paint can opener worked for me eventually. you have to apply a pretty good amount of force surprisingly. The link below I found helped visualize what you are having to do regarding the clips.

Very nice write up. Glad to know how to do it. After fixing cars all today (at work) I'll still take it to the dealer, I have Jeep's Max Care warranty so it's $100 and a free rental car. For anything that brakes.

Does anyone have a letter that has been sent to jeep where they reimbursed you for repairs due to a clock spring on a jeep not covered by the recall? I have an 08 where the clock spring went out on Imogene Pass. Almost ruined my vacation but a dealer in Durango was able to get me in for repairs. Still charged $300+ but at least I was able to finish out my trip.

I have an 08. I did all the paperwork to be reimbursed for my jeep and was denied. They said the recall sis not affect my jeep, even though I showed them that the part numbers were the same.
