mounthing without drilling!!!
If you are like me, you probably have your console ripped apart and you are still scratching your head on where to put the metal box without drilling holes all over the place. I found a spot that works great!!!
I mounted my antenna on the tire carrier with an L bracket made from 1/4 inch steel. I snaked the coax from the second (unused) rubber plug on the right side of the tire carrier. Ok, so there's one hole to drill but its a rubber plug...not that bad. I ran it through the protected sheath with all the other wires. Yes, it does flex when the rear door is open but oh well. From there I snaked it through the roll bars to the driver side since I didn't know where I wanted to mount the unit. I would go through the passenger side if i had another go at it.
Remove the glove box and the rubber/plastic plate under it by your feet. There is a metal piece joining the part closest to the knees to the fan/filter toward the firewall. I took some zippy ties and latched that bad boy to the under side closer to the center console. The coax input is facing the door and the power is on the center console side. I tapped into the cigarette lighter so it cuts power when the keys are out. The connector to the mic is just hanging under the bottom cover plate.
I stole the wife's long hair elastic and made a loop to hang the mic from the grab bar on the dash. It worked like magic.
I know, I should have taken a picture but i was just happy to get it in so I can start playing! Hope that helps!
