I built my own also. Wiring consist of a black and a red wire. Lol. I just ran enough and tapped into the original license plate wiring. I used led light screws though. Dual purposes as a screw to hold on the plate and has led built into them. Can't really see the plate to well but all that's required by law in my state is to just have a light. Cops will be able to read it find with their headlights.

no. I installed the lightnin' bolts. They work pretty good. They replace the license plate bolts.

found the pic of the bolt lights. Pretty clean.

Had to repair my license plate and replace the lights. Figured I would take pics of it off the vehicle.
