Instead of a switch to allow the in-cab use of the winch controls, replace it with a switch that switches between the outside winch controls and the inside winch controls? That way there is no interference.

That's why you wire a separate on/off switch that only allows the in/out switch to work. Flip the winch switch first, then toggle the winch controls.

That wouldn't make sense. The "outside" winch controls are generally on a wired remote that plugs into the winch body.
